Helen Leicht’s Local Pick Of The Day: Kuf Knotz’s “Clock Tickin'”

We’ll admit it: Last month, when we heard that WXPN favorite The Hustle was breaking up, we were pretty bummed. Sure, the news that frontman Kuf Knotz was embarking on a solo career (and would release his debut album on MAD Dragon Records in October) eased the pain a little. But, at the time, it was a tough pill to swallow. A month later, we’ve got a copy of Boombox Logic at our desk, and all is right in our little world once again. The album doesn’t officially drop until October 26th, but the date we have circled on our calendar is October 16th, when World Cafe Live hosts the record-release show for Kuf’s solo debut. In the meantime, you can listen to a streaming version of the album (which includes contributions from other local artists such as G. Love, Dana Alexandra, and Sharon Little) on Kuf’s website. We’re particularly fond of “Clock Tickin'” (featuring Chris Kasper and Lizanne Knott)—a gently lolling, organ-led track accentuated by ringing chimes and sighing vocals.
