Philly Local Philes: Cozy Galaxies’ “Dreamer”

Cozy GalaxiesThings are fast in motion for rustic rockers Cozy Galaxies. Founded in Central PA in 2006, the five-piece recently relocated to Philly and put out its self-titled debut last year. Last week, we told you about their new music video for the song “Clean Yourself Up.” Today, the Philly Local Philes spotlights another track from the album, “Dreamer.” In concert, it’s become something of the band’s signature tune, and it’s hard to resist the Jim James-y vocal tone and drifty guitar lines. Plus they fit the word “Philadelphia” into a lyric without tripping all over its five syllables. In the past I’ve had a hypothesis behind this—how it is virtually impossible for our bands to sing our city’s name and pull it off—but Cozy Galaxies passes with flying colors. Check it out below, and let the song serve as a reminder: the band plays Kung Fu Necktie tomorrow night.
