Philly Local Philes: The Bigger Lovers’ “Threadbare”

A good week is in store for power pop’s true believers in Philly. Mainstays of the scene circa 2001, The Bigger Lovers reconvened to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their full length debut, How I Learned to Stop Worrying. Here on The Key, Bruce Warren chatted with drummer Patrick Berkery about the milestone (as well as the band’s plans surrounding it), while M.J. Fine put the reunion in a historical context in last week’s City Paper. The Worrying vinyl reissue is available this week, the band is playing an acoustic set on my Thursday night Philly Local show on Y-Rock on XPN, and the reunion concert happens this Saturday, March 12, at Johnny Brenda’s. Get pumped for the show by downloading today’s Philly Local Phile, which features the spunky anthem “Threadbare.”
