WXPN Welcomes Nicole Atkins And The Black Sea…again! As you might recall, the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter’s previous visit to Philadelphia—when she was scheduled to play a Free At Noon concert at World Cafe Live back in January—was canceled due to some crazy winter weather. (And give the band credit: They dug the van out of the snow and attempted to drive down to Philly before getting stuck on the roads and ultimately conceding defeat.) But it’ll take more than a little bit of rain or a flood warning to keep Atkins from performing at Johnny Brenda’s tonight (or at her rescheduled Free At Noon concert at World Cafe Live tomorrow) this time around; knowing Atkins, she’d probably build a makeshift sail out of some sleeping bags and attempt to ferry the van to Philadelphia before letting Mother Nature impede the band’s progress again. And, when she does get to town, she’ll be bringing copies of her new album Mondo Amore (released last month on Razor & Tie) with her. Nicole Atkins And The Black Sea performs with Cotton Jones at 9 p.m. at Johnny Brenda’s; tickets to the 21+ show are $12-$14.
Also playing: Pete Yorn + Ben Kweller, The Wellspring at The Trocadero (7:30 p.m., all ages, $24); Los Amigos Invisibles + RiKo at World Cafe Live (8 p.m., $24-$41)
