George Manny’s documentary Meet Me On South Street, The Story Of JC Dobbs, will be shown this Thursday night at Franklin Institute as part of the Fourth Annual Philadelphia Independent Film Festival. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director as well as live acoustic musical performances by Tommy Conwell, Greg Davis, Nik Everett, Skip Denenberg, and Jeff Washington.

Meet Me On South Street, The Story of JC Dobbs documents the evolution of Philly’s fertile music & arts subculture in the 1970?s until the sad closing of JC Dobbs in 1996. A George Manney film.

JC Dobbs showcased artists in the infancy of their rising careers. National and international acts on their first tour, played the legendary club JC Dobbs including: Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams (2x’s), Nirvana (2x’s), Pearl Jam, Steve Earle, Oasis, and The Jayhawks to name a few.

Meet Me On South Street, The Story Of JC Dobbs screens at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23rd, at Franklin Institute; tickets to the screening are $11.50.
