Listen to St. Vincent’s new single “Surgeon” (performing Nov. 2nd at Union Transfer)
It’s no secret to many that St. Vincent’s third album Strange Mercy is due this September, and on Friday fans received their first taste of the upcoming LP. The single did not come for nothing, however. Over the course of four days last week, people tweeted the hashtag #strangemercy as a countdown on the album’s website slowly shrank, revealing album teaser videos along the way. Eventually, after 5,000 tweets, the single “Surgeon” was unlocked for streaming and download. The track is a fantastic sign for the new album, adeptly displaying Annie Clark’s addictive and striking talents as a vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
Strange Mercy will be released in the U.S. on September 13th (via 4AD). St. Vincent will tour extensively this fall, and will stop in Philadelphia on November 2nd at Union Transfer. Tickets to the show are $16 and are available here. Stream/download “Surgeon” below.
