After Clash guitarist Mick Jones parted ways with his former mates he started Big Audio Dynamite with film director, musician and DJ Don Letts. Throughout the mid-80’s and 90’s the band recorded a handful of excellent records and created a body of work that drew on many of the same musical and cultural influences as The Clash: rock, hip-hop, reggae, punk and DJ culture. After laying low for several years, Jones formed Carbon/Silicon with Tony James in 2005 and many of us saw Jones (and ex-Clash bassist Paul Simenon) on tour with Gorillaz last year. Even with this activity loyal B.A.D fans waited impatiently for a reunion that seemed like it was never going to happen. All that changed when Jones decided to get the original lineup together and played Coachella, Glastonbury and decided to go on a proper tour. The band performs in Philadelphia this Thursday night at Electric Factory at 8:30 p.m. with the legendary HR of Bad Brains opening the show. Tickets to the all-ages show are $29.50. Below, watch five of the classics from Jones and his band. Who is ready for this show?
