Philly Local Philes: Goodnight Lights’ “Daniel Johnston”

I wish I could say that Philly indie rock five-piece Goodnight Lights was dressing up in hand-printed white t-shirts and playing Daniel Johnston for The M Room’s Halloween Tribute Night. Alas, “Daniel Johnston” is simply the name of a fantastic song on their 2010 album Electric Spark; the Lights are performing as The White Stripes tomorrow (just plain white t-shirts, thanks). It’s still a good fit, given the band’s raw energy and tightness, though their original material shouldn’t be overlooked. Download the song below, check out the entire album here, and catch the show tomorrow at The M Room, 15 West Girard Ave., at 8 p.m. Also performing are The Quelle Source as Radiohead, Long Walk Home as Neil Young and The Bailey Hounds at T. Rex. Tickets to the 21+ show are $8 at the door.
