Tonight: WXPN’s 8th Annual Musicians On Call Benefit Concert featuring Diego Garcia, Mike Doughty, and Mutlu

Diego Garcia

Tonight, Diego Garcia will share the stage with Mike Doughty and Mutlu for WXPN’s 8th Annual Musicians On Call Benefit Concert. Proceeds from ticket sales support WXPN Musicians On Call, a community service program that sends musicians to six area hospitals where they perform at the bedsides of room-bound patients:

Since 2004, the WXPN Musicians On Call music programs have made a difference in the lives of more than 30,000 patients and their families in hospitals throughout the Delaware Valley.

Each week volunteer musicians conduct bedside performances throughout six facilities: The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Our Lady of Loudres Medical Center, the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. We’ve also provided CD Pharmacies to more than a dozen healthcare facilities in the Philadelphia region.

WXPN’s 8th Annual Musicians On Call Benefit Concert featuring Diego Garcia, Mike Doughty, and Mutlu begins at 7 p.m. at World Cafe Live; tickets to the all-ages show are $28.

I’d love to support this and see Diego, but WCL tix prices are just stupidly overpriced. $28 + convenience charges really can’t motivate someone to get out on a rainy Wed. night in February.

it’s a benefit, I’d say that makes the ticket price acceptable

The benefit part is great, but these prices are on par with most other WCL events I’ve considered in the past. It’s the argument of whether they’re trying to sell 300 tickets for $10-$20 or 150 for $25-$35. Not everyone can afford, or justify, spending upwards of $70 for 2 tickets. I’m just saying, I wish these things were more accessible. I would bet they’d sell more tickets by lowering the prices a few bucks.

$28.00 to benefit the musicians on call isn’t that much.  Well worth going out on a rainy February night !
