Download a Nine Inch Nails tribute EP by Psychic Teens (playing The Station on Saturday)
To further cement their status as Philadelphia’s resident goth-punks, Psychic Teens last week released a Nine Inch Nails tribute EP, Halo, as a free download on its Bandcamp page. The recordings stem from a tribute show the band played in South Philadelphia last Halloween, with Jeff Bowne of Dangerbird sitting in on guest vocals. With renditions of five tracks from NIN’s classic era – two from The Downward Spiral, two from the Broken EP, one from Pretty Hate Machine – this release pretty much rules for anybody who was an angsty teenager between 1989 and 1996. The band dials down the electronic / industrial leanings of the originals for raw, guitar-bass-drums punk rock aggression, and if you’ve ever seen Nine Inch Nails in concert, you’ll agree that their take is spot on. Download the EP and check out some videos from last Halloween below. Psychic Teens plays The Station Bar and Grill tomorrow night, March 10, with Moon Women (that show we told you about yesterday); if you hit it up, feel free to demand your favorite selection from their Reznor repertoire.
