23 year old singer-songwriter John Fullbright was raised and still lives in Okemah, Oklahoma, birthplace of Woody Guthrie. On Fullbright’s new album, From The Ground Up (released tomorrow), he draws on the tradition of Guthrie along with some of Fullbright’s earliest songwriting heroes like Townes Van Zandt and Mickey Newbury. From The Ground Up is a remarkably accomplished record from a gifted up and coming story teller. Fullbright plays World Cafe Live on Tuesday, May 15th.
