Playful Philadelphia psych trio Mock Suns have thus far been known as the band that made candy sculptures of their faces for Easter, and who self-released a delightfully nonlinear pop record titled Here Nor There. If you listened to their album (or snacked on their faces), it should come as no surprise that these guys gravitate towards the surreal / bizarro end of the 60s musical spectrum, especially the more adventurous work of Brian Wilson. This week, the band released their cover of The Beach Boys nugget “Cabin Essence,” a post-Smile song originally found on the 1969 album 20/20. You can watch a video of their cover below, and keep tabs on Mock Suns at their Facebook page.
