Originally from Philadelphia until shipping up to Boston to attend Berklee School of Music, Nicky Egan is talented beyond her years. She takes her style from influences like James Brown and Janis Joplin, with a soulful rhythmic voice meant for the stage. Her R&B, jazzy genre with a pinch of funk draws similarities to classic 60’s soul groups like The Ohio Players. She released her debut album Good People in January 2011 which you can listen to below. Nicky Egan and her band play at World Cafe Live tonight opening for Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $14-22 plus processing fees.
