Tonight’s Concert Picks: Kaki King at World Cafe Live, Jason Anderson at Kung Fu Necktie, Death Grips at First Unitarian, Bobby Bare, Jr. at Milkboy Philly
XPN Welcomes guitar instrumentalist Kaki King to World Cafe Live tonight. The Golden Globe nominee, whose latest album Glow was released in October, has been praised for her composition skills, even being named as the only woman on Rolling Stone‘s list of “The New Guitar Gods” in 2006. Brooklyn singer/songwriter Jason Anderson returns to Philadelphia for a show tonight at Kung Fu Necktie. Anderson’s heartfelt folk rock can be most recently heard on his 2011 album Summer Style, which you can stream on his Bandcamp page here. Notorious Sacramento hip-hop outfit Death Grips will be performing at First Unitarian tonight. Death Grips’ leak of their latest album, NO LOVE DEEP WEB, sparked an ongoing battle with their former label, Epic Records. Tickets for the show are available here; the show begins at 8:30. Southern rock artist Bobby Bare Jr., the son of country singer Bobby Bare, will be playing tonight at Milkboy Philly. A Storm, A Tree, My Mother’s Head, Bare, Jr.’s sixth record with his band, The Young Criminals Starvation League, was released in 2010.
