Left to right: Helen Leicht, John Belushi and Ed Sciaky

As we get ready for this year’s countdown to Christmas with tomorrow’s launch of XPN2’s Jingle Jams 24-7 holiday music stream, and of course Robert Drake’s 19th Annual 19th Annual Night Before (non-stop 24 hours of holiday music magic), we stumbled across this incredible recording of the legendary Ed Sciaky’s air shift when he was on Q102 in Philly. In addition to working at WMMR for many years, Ed – may he rest in peace – worked at Q102 in the Eighties where he used to host the Sunday Night Alternative. Below, listen to his Sunday Night Alternative Christmas special from December 23rd, 1984. Be sure to listen to special holiday greetings from David Dye (who was a DJ on the station at the time along with Helen Leicht) at the end of the show. Special thanks to WXPN “boardie” Obee for tipping us off to the aircheck. It’s a special slice of Philly radio history.
