Tonight’s Concert Picks: Ambassadors at Kung Fu Necktie, Local H at North Star Bar

By

Ambassadors, the fuzz/rock project from brothers Casey and Sam Harris and friend Noah Felshuh, are performing tonight at Kung Fu Necktie. With their cool mix of heavy beats, electronica, rock and roll, and heartfelt songwriting, it surprising that – short of a tour with Lights in the spring – Ambassadors isn’t bigger. Smooth piano, cool percussion and gospel-like vocals on tracks like “Bodybag” and “Unconsolable” from this year’s Litost give the band a indie-pop vibe in the vein of acts like Imagine Dragons or fun. Tickets for tonight’s 21+ concert are available at our calendar here; the show starts at 8. Below, watch the video for “Unconsolable.”

Alt rock duo Local H is performing at North Star Bar tonight, supporting the September release of their seventh studio album Hallelujah! I’m a Bum. Since their start in the early ’90s, the Midwestern group has built up a reputation for fan-interactive, energetic shows with imaginative setlists. Tickets for tonight’s 21+ show can be found here; check out Local H’s cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic.”
