My Morning Download: “Eve” by Rebecca Jordan (playing Tin Angel tomorrow 1/18)

By

Back in the late Nineties Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Rebecca Jordan released her major label debut album and was known as “Rebekah.” As it often happens with musicians and their labels, Jordan parted ways with Elektra Records. At the time, she was positioned – as many artists are, for good or for worse – as a “next big thing.” But there was good reason for it; she balanced the genres of “soul” and “singer-songwriter” with grace and passion. She had the songwriter chops and vocal presence to back it up. Flash forward to 2005 when Jordan independently released The Trouble With Fiction. In 2011 she released her Souvenir EP. She’s written songs for Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and co-wrote five songs for Alice Smith’s upcoming EP, executive produced by Citizen Cope. Jordan plays the Tin Angel tomorrow evening, Friday, January 18th. Go here for tickets and more information about the show. Below, download “Eve” from her new EP, Asphalt Heart.
