Veteran musicians The Time Jumpers graced the stage of the State Theatre in Easton, with their brand of western swing music. The Time Jumpers are a supergroup of Nashville studio musicians who gained notoriety with jam sessions at the Station Inn bluegrass club. The group was nominated for two Grammy awards this year – Best Country Album for The Time Jumpers, and Best Vocal Performance by a Country Duo or Group for “On The Outskirts of Town.” Opening the show was Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member, Vince Gill. Gill told personal stories and jokes about his life and career while playing his songs. After his 45 minute set Gill joined The Time Jumpers to play guitar, claiming that they’ve pushed him to become better at his craft. The Time Jumpers didn’t start the show with a finalized set list, instead choosing songs as they went to highlight the talents of their individual members. The set included “Texoma Bound,” “Nothing But The Blues,” “On The Outskirts of Town,” “Yodel Blues” and a selection of other songs. At the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards, band members Larry Franklin and Joe Spivey are nominated for Fiddle Player of the Year and Dennis Crouch is nominated for Bass Player of the Year.
