It’s almost Record Store Day again, which means there are a lot of cool things planned at most of the area’s record stores. Participating stores will have a lot of exclusive RSD releases, but some shops are going out of their way to make this day special, with in-store performances and discounts on in-stock or used records. Here is a look at some of the events that will be happening around Philly this Record Store Day, on April 20, 2013:

A.K.A. Music (Old City) – Live music from 1-5pm, featuring Restorations, Heyward Howkins, Bridge Underwater, Mikele Edwards. Sponsored by Naragansett. More information at the store’s Facebook event page.

Repo Records (South Street) – Local bands performing, give-aways of records, CDs, etc. Also grab a voucher for $1.50 off all drafts at Fountain Porter, valid on Saturday and Sunday.

Long in the Tooth (Center City) – Show featuring local bands starting at 9pm, after closing. Also, if you are 21 or older, stop by during the day for other refreshing “give-aways.”

Main St. Music (Manayunk) – Bands performing all day – from noon to 6pm – featuring Billy Bragg at noon, Shark Tape at around 2pm, and more TBA.

Hideaway Music (Chestnut Hill) – Lots of limited RSD releases available, special screening of “Last Shop Standing” at 12 noon, and rare 45 records being spun all day by local record enthusiast Thomas Browne.

Siren Records (Doylestown) – Plow United perform at 5pm, Peasant at 4pm, plenty of RSD releases. More information at the Facebook event page.
