Just Announced: Italian prog band Goblin making its U.S. debut this fall, playing Underground Arts on 10/5

goblin1Italian prog rockers / composers Goblin will make their U.S. debut this fall, stopping at Underground Arts on Saturday, October 5th for a multi-media performance and film screening.  Listing progressive giants Genesis and King Crimson as influences, Goblin began composing scores to Italian horror films in the mid-1970s beginning with Dario Argento‘s Profondo Rosso. The cult icons achieved unexpected success from their soundtrack work up to the point of their disbandment in the early 80s, though fragments of the original group occasionally worked together over the next decade.

Now back together, the current line-up of Goblin includes original members Claudio Simonetti, Maurizio Guarini and Massimo Morante with relatively new additions Titta Tani and Bruno Previtali.  To celebrate its first excursion to the U.S. Goblin has recorded a tour-only EP of classic songs pressed to red vinyl and covered in artwork by sci-fi / horror film graphic designer Graham Humphreys.

The inaugural concert will feature a survey of Goblin’s most-loved work, including pieces from Profondo Rosso, Dawn of the Dead and more.  The event will be bookended by screenings of horror film trailers and features presented as a pop-up cinema by Exhumed Films.  Tickets and information for the 21+ event can be found here.  Below, listen to the them songs from Profondo Rosso and Suspiria.
