Indie folk outfit The Low Anthem are set to perform at the annual 2nd Street Festival in Northern Liberties. Although Jocie Adams recently left the band to pursue her own project/band called Arc Iris, The Low Anthem has come out of their hiatus and are recording a new album which, according to their website might be described as “a museic installation mixing poetry, narrative, and psychedelic light.”
The August 4th 2nd Street Festival has a musical lineup (programmed by the Philadelphia Folksong Society) that includes The Bailey Hounds, Denison Witmer, Brad Hinton Band, Angela Shiek, Banned Books, and more. Stretching about 7 blocks on 2nd Street (between Germantown and Green Streets), the all-day event is free and features local food, beer, art, and businesses. Find more information, including a VIP ticket option, here. Meanwhile, watch a beautifully haunting live performance of “This God Damn House,” where Ben Knox Miller plays a singing saw.
