A duo from Bethlehem, Slingshot Dakota was founded on the vocals of Carly Comando and Tom Patterson. With Comando on the keys and Patterson on the drums, these two artists are able to create emotional and heart-felt indie punk out of a simple set-up. Joined by a handful of artists such as Real Friends and Candy Hearts, Slingshot Dakota will perform at The Barbary tonight, so check out the video of the duo’s Nervous Energies session for “Until The Day I Die.” Information and tickets can be found here.
Portland retro-rockers Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside will stop by MilkBoy tonight. The talented Ford and her group showcase blues and old-time country, and for this event, they’ll perform alongside Juston Stens and The Get Real Gang as well as Katie Frank and the Pheromones. The former is lead by the former drummer of Dr. Dog (Stens) while singer-songwriter Katie Frank offers folk-inspired pop songs, backed by a polished band. Take a look at Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside’s video of “Party Kids,” and find tickets and information here.
Formed by Erik Petersen, anarcho-punk band Mischief Brew incorporates a range of genres, including swing and American folk. While performing live, the group often includes less popular instruments such as mandolins and vibraphones — which means the audience at Morgan’s Pier will be in for a treat when Mischief Brew stops by tonight.
