Whether it’s with a band, as a guest musician or simply flying solo, Samantha Crain makes great music anyway possible. The folk singer has been around for a few years and just released her third studio album, Kid Face in February. Her music varies from haunting to sweet folk ballads and all of it is pretty good. Tonight, she’s playing at The Fire. Check out some of her music below and click here for ticket information.
Des Ark is the folk project of singer Aimee Argot. The fiercely independent and gifted songwriter has been releasing music since the 90s, with her most recent release being 2011′s Don’t Rock The Boat, Sink the F*cker. Tonight, the group plays at Johnny Brenda’s along with Tim Barry and Cory Branan. Check out their song “My Saddle Is Waitin’ (C’mon Jump On It)” below, and click here for concert info.
Before you catch them at the XPoNential Music Festival next weekend, catch The Districts tonight at World Cafe Live. The impressive young Lititz, Pa. band released their record Telephone last spring, and are hopefully recording a followup in between all the live shows they’ve been playing lately. Tickets and info on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Listen to The Districts’ song “Four and Four” below.
Last but by no means least is The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. This group has been rocking hard since the 90s, playing blues tinged experimental rock and releasing their ninth studio album, Meat + Bone last summer. Tonight, the group is hitting Lancaster at The Chameleon Club. If you want to rock your socks off tonight, look no further. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion have still got it and you can find out information about their upcoming show here.
