WXPN’s Artist To Watch Daughn Gibson is bringing his experimental tunes to Johnny Brenda’s Tonight. His second album, Me Moan, was recently released on Sub Pop Records and fuses dark country with electronic beats and orchestral instruments to create a haunting, unique sound. Opening the show are Hiss Golden Messenger and Man On. Gibson was on World Cafe with David Dye this past week; listen to the session here. Alternative singer-songwriter/hip-hop artist Kilo Kish is headlining the Red Bull Sound Select show at The Blockley Tonight. Her LP K+ was released earlier this year, and is available to stream on SoundCloud. Also playing the Sound Select show are Nico’s Gun, and Mic Stewart. Tickets for the show can be purchased at the door; admission is $3 before 10 p.m. and $10 after 10.
The Hard Rock Café is hosting Do Good Fest tonight, a benefit show by Philabundance to fight Hunger in Philadelphia. The event is headlined by Philly rapper Chill Moody, who recently released a video for his song “Chains,” and was part of Mic Stewart’s music video for their collaborative track “Let it Bump.” Also on the lineup are Kuf Knotz, Market East, and more. The genre-bending Mighty Paradocs are playing a show at PhilaMOCA tonight, opening for Japan’s The Akabane Vulgars on Strong Bypass and M.O.T.O. – wild combination.
