Set to release their VII LP tomorrow, Blitzen Trapper headline Union Transfer tonight. The Portland, Oregon band forage for their sound in the dark, hidden forests of the Pacific Northwest and the deep, mind-bending backwoods of the South, blending alternative country with experimental, almost psychedelic warps. VII is streaming now on the New York Times‘ Press Play feature. TIckets and information for tonight’s show with Phox can be found here. Listen to Blitzen Trapper’s 2011 appearance on World Cafe here and watch the video for their 2009 single “Black River Killer” below.
Detroit punk rockers Tyvek will play Boot & Saddle tonight. Touring behind their third and latest LP On Triple Beams, the four-piece out of Motor City has managed to keep a somewhat low-key profile since its 2004 inception. There’s nothing low-key about the band’s recordings or live shows, though. With jerky, crashing drums, talk-sing vocals and handbanging energy progressions, Tyvek is the kind of band that will get everyone moshing. Tickets and information for tonight’s show with Drone Ranger can be found here. Listen to “Say Yeah” below.
Legendary Philadelphia duo Hall & Oates reunite for a show at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center. Though their most recent album of all new material is 2003′s Do It For Love, Hall & Oates have kept busy with individual projects and the occasional live appearance (like Daryl Hall’s 4th of July show last year). Tickets and information for tonight’s retrospective show can be found here. Celebrate the season with “Fall in Philadelphia” off of Hall & Oates’ debut record Whole Oats below.
