Lo-fi post-punk outfit Weekend will take the stage at Johnny Brenda’s tonight. The band released its second album, Jinx, back in July on Slumberland Records. Their sound brings to mind the darkest parts of Blink-182’s self-titled record mixed with distant, haunting vocals and ’80s-inspired melodies. Listen to “Hazel” below and get tickets here.
Cardiologist turned folk singer-songwriter Suzie Brown will head back home to Philly tonight to play a record release show at World Cafe Live. Her new album, Almost There, was released earlier this month and will please anyone who loves acoustic music. Watch her perform the title track below. Tickets are available here.
Philly’s September Call-Up, aka Christian Bitto, will bring its quiet storm of acoustic resonance to Ortlieb’s stage. Vinyl Mag calls his debut album, Air and Sleep, “a very calm, smooth indie record and Bitto himself “a Renaissance Man of vocals, a jack-of-all-moods, you might say.” Their point becomes crystal clear when you listen to Bitto’s easygoing, yet lyrically potent music. Watch him perform “Negative Film” below. Get tickets to the show here.
