“You don’t have to clap for that,” singer and guitarist Brett Dennen told the audience after mentioning that he just celebrated a birthday. “You get it, it’s the first thing you get when you come into this world, is a birthday.” Dedicating the next song to the audience member celebrating one today, Dennen went on to say, “It’s a song about evaluating your life. And I’m not saying you need to do it, but you should… It’s a good thing to do on a birthday, is to reflect.”

Celebrating the release of his new album Smoke and Mirrors, Dennen packed the Free At Noon performance with a set of intimate, rocking and dance worthy tunes. With the audience calling out to keep him on his bare-footed toes, Dennen kept the atmosphere light, talking to some Drexel Hill Middle School students in the crowd about staying in school, but letting loose when you can.
