Shawn Kilroy brought in his Weird Hot troupe for a Key Studio Session.  Eclectic in every way, the tracks that the local band recorded range from adreneline-rushed twang, pop-tinted funk and a cover of Paul McCartney’s “Band on the Run.”  Stream and download “Ghosts” below and get the full set here.

Radio Raheem have put up “Calling the World” from their recent Raheem Rising record for free.  The Seattle R&B / soul / hip hop project channel the sound of early soul singers, similar to the style of Mayer Hawthorne or Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings.  Stream and download the track below.

Mumblr is set to release their new tape White Jesus Black God on November 12th via Fleeting Youth Records.  The basement punk outfit, led by former Stinky Smelly vocalist / guitarist Nick Morrison, have shared “Puke” as a free download – stream and download it below.  Mumblr plays The Fire on November 6th.

San Francisco psych rock band Wooden Shjips will be in town on November 15th to open for Bardo Pond.  With their new LP Back to Land set for release a few days earlier, Wooden Shjips have made the title track available as a free download.  Take a listen below and go to Thrill Jockey Records’ Soundcloud for the download.

Folkadelphia brought Yellow Red Sparks in for a session this week.  As host Fred Knittel points out, the California trio could easily be labeled folk-pop, but that tag doesn’t reach the full depths of frontman Joshua Hanson’s songwriting (he won the International Songwriting Competition grand prize last year.  Stream and download the session below.
