Sugar Tongue Slim (S.T.S.)’s new single is catchy and urban-radio-ready (and even borrows a lyric from Drake’s epic verse on Migos’s hit song “Versace”). But these characteristics just scratch the surface. The Philly rapper calls attention to the issue of racial-profiling and stereotyping of African-Americans at high-end fashion retailers, specifically, Barney’s. Regarding this influence on the song, STS says: “It breaks my heart, cause I was a big Barney’s shopper” – which is why he wears it on his sleeve as the new track suggests. Listen below.
