XPN Weekend Arts Crawl: Holiday events onstage and in the trees, world premieres from BalletX, and more!

Acclaimed Philadelphia dance company BalletX presents three world premieres at the Wilma Theater Friday and Saturday…Adam Barruch’s If the Heart Runs, Gabrielle Lamb’s HeedfulNeedful, and Matthew Neenan’s There I was, with renowned collaborators Reid Bartelme (costumes) and Drew Billau (lighting).

The Walnut Street Theatre presents Elf, a Broadway musical comedy based on the hit Hollywood film and transformed into a stage extravaganza by the writers of Annie and The Wedding Singer. Elf tracks the adventures of Buddy, a human raised by Santa in the North Pole, as he treks to New York City to find his father.Through January 5th.

Morris Arboretum, located on Northwestern Avenue in Chestnut Hill, celebrates the grand opening of its annual Holiday Garden Railway. The exhibit opens Saturday and runs through January 5th. The railway runs a quarter mile with seven loops, several tunnels, and nine bridges,  passing by replicas of Philadelphia landmarks like Independence Hall constructed from bark, flowers, and twigs.
