Philly alterna-indie mainstays Goodnight Lights must have cranked up the “epic” knob on their amps since we heard from them last. Yesterday, the five-piece band quietly unleashed a new track called “Convinced,” a selection from their recent recording stint with Bill Moriarty over at Waking Studio in East Falls, and it’s thundering drums and soaring guitar licks sound massive in a Siamese Dream via Synthetica kind of way. The song is a teaser for a five-song EP the band plans to release in 2014, but tonight, they open up the show at MilkBoy alongside Born Cages and NGHBRS; tickets and information can be found here. Listen to “Convinced” below.
Melancholic electropop local Alex G plays PhilaMOCA tonight alongside Post Sun Times for this week’s installment of the Tuesday Tune-Out, curated by local DIY promoters Spazz Presents. The four-piece put out its LP Trick as a free download in late 2012; check out the song “Memory” below, and get more information at the show’s Facebook event page.
It’s been a year and a half since melodic Philly punks Kite Party released their third LP Baseball Season, which means we’re pretty much due for new music from their neck of the woods any day now. Maybe we’ll get a taste of what they’ve been working on in between tour dates tonight at Boot and Saddle. Or maybe it will be just another rowdy night out with the boys. Oughta be good times either way, and you can find details at the XPN Concert Calendar.
