Circa Survive frontman Anthony Green plays a solo hometown show tonight at Union Transfer. Green released his third solo record Young Legs last month, which was recorded with Will Yip at his Conshohocken studio. The Key profiled Young Legs in an Unlocked segment during the release week, talking with Green about his creative process, how Sinatra influenced the record and how he’s matured over his decade-plus career. Tickets and information for tonight’s all-ages show can be found here. Watch the video for “Young Legs” below.
Local rap duo The Yah Mos Def are reuniting for an appearance at Boot & Saddle tonight. The event marks the end of a five-year hiatus, before which YMD was at the height of their cult popularity with continuous show bookings and the release of Excuse Me, This is the Yah Mos Def was released in 2008. Sampling tracks from Cap’n Jazz, Bikini Kill and other punk rock favorites YMD created their own Beastie Boys-esque genre of hip hop. Tickets and information for the 21+ show can be found here. Watch a video of the duo performing at WTHN in 2007.
XPN welcomes Work Drugs and their Christmas Spectacle at Johnny Brenda’s tonight. The local smooth-fi outfit continued their recording binge through 2013, releasing what seemed like a song per month to keep us feeling warm and sultry. Dropped a couple of weeks ago, the December track was “Never Gone Alone On Christmas,” a “sedative pop jingle” dedicated to Michael McDonald. Tickets and information for the 21+ holiday show can be found here. Listen to the Christmas song below.
