XPN welcomes The Lawsuits to MilkBoy for New Years Eve. The jam-packed line-up, featuring the local indie roots-rock outfit with TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb and Commonwealth Choir, will ring in 2014 by performing songs off of their recent Cool Cool Cool release. Members of the bands got together recently to cover Van Morrison’s “Wild Night,” so a reprise of that performance may also be in the plans. Tickets and information for the 21+ celebration can be found here. Check out the cover video below.
Over at Johnny Brenda’s the party continues with Screaming Females. The north Jersey based trio will be joined by Swearin’ and Batty to close out 2013 with amped-up power jams led by frontwoman Marissa Paternoster. Screaming Females wowed Philly fans this past September at a Don Giovanni showcase at the First Unitarian Church and the review is well worth a read through to get excited for tonight’s show. Tickets and information for the 21+ event can be found here.
Philly Bloco dances in the new year at World Cafe Live. As Sameer Rao pointed out in this feature of the 20+ member world music group, Philly Bloco rocks the crowd in a tropical samba fashion that is all-encompassing. The Brazilian roots band has played World Cafe Live on NYE for the last few years, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone dancing along. Tickets and information for the 21+ show can be found here.
