Lee Ranaldo and the Dust headline Boot & Saddle tonight.  The founding member Sonic Youth has created an impressive solo career over the last couple of decades, most recently releasing Between the Times and the Tides in 2012 (ahead of an XPoNential Music Festival appearance) and Last Night on Earth in 2013.  In-between, Ranaldo has performed the works of John Cage in intriguing and experimental ways (check out an interview about it here).  Tickets and information for tonight’s 21+ show with Steve Gunn can be found here.  Watch Ranaldo and his band perform “Lecce, Leaving” on Conan below.

Indie rock musician Kevin Devine comes back to the area for a show at Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem, PA.  Taking things into his own hands, Devine released a pair of records in 2013 on his label. Bubblegum and Bulldozer allowed the Brooklyn native to explore two musical personalities, balancing power pop / rock anthems with singer-songwriter admissions. Tickets and information for the all-ages show can be found here.  Watch Devine and his band perform “Little Bulldozer” below.

Dirty Dozen Brass Band brings the funk to World Cafe Live.  For three and a half decades, the New Orleans outfit has been spreading a “gumbo style” brass band music, crediting their long-running success with a panache for varied influences and creativity.  Tickets and information for tonight’s all-ages show with Nicholas David can be found here.

Also playing:

Edwin McCain at Ardmore Music Hall (7:00 p.m., 21+, $29.50)
