This week’s best free mp3 downloads include a variety of different sounds. From birds to bears, there was something for everyone. Philly blues band John the Conqueror released its newest single through Rolling Stone this week. Before the band heads out on its European tour, download “Waking Up To You” off of The Good Life below.

Just before Christmas, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Gretchen Lohse performed her own rendition of “Walking in the Air” from the 1982 film, “The Snowman” at Johnny Brenda’s. For those who weren’t there to see the performance themselves, Lohse has released it for download on her Bandcamp.

Baltimore rock band J. Roddy Walston and The Business have recently been added to the lineup for this year’s Coachella. To promote their 2014 tour, they’re giving a free sample EP in exchange for a simple email address. Download it below.

Jersey artist Ginger Coyle came in earlier for a studio session with The Key which fans can now download. Until she brings back her jazzy sound to World Cafe Live on Feb. 15, download and stream her performance here at WXPN.

Americana rock band Bird Watcher released a new song for its fans earlier this week. On the band’s page, they said that “The Great West, or ‘Old Black on the Elk’” was written for a friend of theirs who passed away using his own writing. Download it below:

Former 90s Philly band The Skywriters released a new compilation of songs this week. From bonus tracks to songs off of the band’s self-titled record, songs like “Cherry Lips” and “My Friends Say” certainly give Mazzy Star a run for its money.
