Tonight’s Concert Picks: The Districts at A.K.A. Music, On The Water at PhilaMOCA, Cheerleader at Kung Fu Necktie

Central PA natives The Districts will celebrate the release of their first EP on Fat Possum Records tonight with a free show at AKA Music in Old City. The Americana-rock band is about to head out on a winter tour with White Denim, with a South By Southwest appearance and spring shows on the horizon. Pre-order the EP here, and watch the band’s HotBox session performance of “Radiator” below.

West Philly’s On the Water will play PhilaMOCA’s Tune-out Tuesday show tonight. The band classifies itself as “oddball folk” which is a fitting description considering their music which is folksy at heart but has its own gritty special sauce. Philly five-piece Cheerleader made some waves with a home released string of demos last year, and they’re getting set to release a full EP of their breezy sixties-influenced psych rock.
