Oakland shoegaze outfit Whirr will play at Boot and Saddle tonight. The band simply describes themselves as “best friends” which surely influences the recording process of such blissful music that transports you to a different mental space. They released last year’s Pipe Dreams LP which is definitely worth checking out. Get tickets to their show here and listen to “Junebouvier” below.

Acts like Young and Sick (who plays his first show ever at Johnny Brenda’s tonight) are keeping R&B fresh, interesting, and transcending traditional boundaries set for the genre. The man behind the project keeps his identity on the hush but according to Stereogum, his name is Nick and he’s from Holland. Having designed album cover art for hitmakers like Foster the People, Maroon 5, and Robin Thicke, his talent extends far beyond his highly satisfying electro-R&B tracks. Get tickets here. Stream “Continuum” below.
