Wayne Coyne, lead singer for The Flaming Lips, is selling human-sized chocolate skulls equipped with a vinyl reissue of The Flaming Lips debut 1984 EP tonight at A.K.A. Records in Old City. The unique event is in promotion of the Oklahoma psych-rock staples’ extensive back catalog, as well as it’s fabled live show – the skuls contain rare “coins” granting the customers into any Flaming Lips headlining concert happening anywhere in the world. Check out Rolling Stone’s write-up on the unique event here; more information can be found here.
Patrick Berkery, drummer for local indie rock band The War on Drugs, will be sharing his inspirations and techniques tonight during “Beats, Brews & Banter” at RBar presented by the Philly Drum Project. The event was rescheduled due to last week’s snow and ice storms. Berkery’s lesson will run from 7-9 p.m. tonight.
