Slingshot Dakota’s newest album, Dark Hearts, is about exactly what fans would expect based off the record’s name. Though the lyrics are heavy, the two-piece band makes sure the sound is not. Slingshot Dakota, made up of Carly Commando and Tom Patterson, dance up the lyrics of loss and moving forward with twinkly percussion and playful keyboard chords. Hang out with the Bethlehem, Pa. natives along with Iron Chic, Timeshares, Martin and Crybaby tonight at First Unitarian Church. The show starts at 6 p.m. and the $10 tickets can be purchased here.
The Burgeoning, a math-rock inspired band from Bensalem, Pa. fits snug with other Philly DIYers and will bring their surfy/punk sound tonight to The Fire. The five-piece band explores a wide range of vocals and harmonies in their latest and first EP Love Alchemy, Life Algorithm, which is as clean and complicated as their instrumentation. Check them out tonight. The show starts at 5 p.m. and the $8 tickets can be purchased here.
Brooklyn-based indie-rock band DIIV, also known as Dive, is swinging by Boot & Saddle this evening. Like a strange combination of Real Estate and Sonic Youth, DIIV’s sound is more atmospheric than anything, which is evident on the band’s latest album, Oshin. Tonight’s show starts at 7:30, and the $3 can be purchased here.
