Synth-pop Philly duo Lockets have released a cover of pop mega star Miley Cyrus’ track “Wrecking Ball”. Before there’s any eye rolling, I’m happy to note that Lockets have managed to put their synth heavy dream pop touch on the track, and newest member Catie Parker’s voice is nothing to laugh about.

The vocals follow the melody of the original, but where the song really picks up is in the chorus, with Todd Mendelsohn’s synth sounds taking the song to climax in M83-ish style. It’s clear the newly formed Lockets are trying new things, and Mendelsohn attributes much of that to the addition of Parker: “I’m really excited about working with Catie. She brings a totally different sound to Lockets and I can’t wait to share the new music we have on the horizon.”
