The rigorous rhythms and party atmosphere of Red Baraat stole the show at last summer’s XPoNential Music Festival, and they’ll return to town tonight for their Festival of Colors show at Underground Arts. Part of the band’s mission is celebrating bhangra music and introducing it to new audiences, and the motivation behind the Festival comes from a similar place. With featured openers Mandeep Sethi and Falu, Red Baraat wants to shine a spotlight on less-heard / less-seen South Asian artists in general. Read more in Shaun Brady’s writeup on the Festival, and get tickets and information at the XPN Concert Calendar.

New England singer-songwriter Jocie Adams and her band Arc Iris are in town tonight, opening for North Jersey singer-songwriter-rocker Nicole Atkins. After departing The Low Anthem a few years back, Adams began writing the songs that would become their self-titled album, out April 1 on Anti- Records; check out the colorful video for “Singing So Sweetly” below. Meanwhile, Atkins’ released her critically acclaimed third LP Slow Phaser in February – following a successful PledgeMusic campaign that also benefited the Waves for Water charity’s effort at helping areas of the Jersey shore affected by Hurricane Sandy. Watch her video for “Girl You Look Amazing” below, and get information on the show at the XPN Concert Calendar.

Philly rapper Hezekiah is gearing up for the release of his new LP Dreams Don’t Chase Themselves, and recently previewed the album via a new video for “Hologram Dreams” that showed off his impassioned flow and sharp visual sensibility. Check out the video below, and get tickets for the show here.
