Wisconsin native S. Carey (“S” for Sean) is a songwriter and composer whose new album, Range Of Light, was influenced by American naturalist John Muir and the California Sierra Nevada mountain range Muir named.

On his second studio release, Carey has crafted a beautiful collection of songs with roots in classical, jazz and pop music. A trained jazz and classical musician, Carey attended University of Wisconsin, and soon after his graduation joined Bon Iver’s band and has been a member of it since the release of Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago. On his own, Carey’s solo music distinguishes himself by having a compositional approach to the songwriting. The instrumentation is warm and inviting, emotion waxes and wanes, and special attention is paid to musical detail.

Carey plays Boot & Saddle a week from today, Monday, April 14th. Go here for tickets and more information about the show. Below, download “Crown The Pines.”
