They’re the kind of band you can’t quite categorize. Philly’s own Elegant Animals has a bit of every genre rolled into a singular style. Just a few weeks ago, they showcased that unconventional sound during their Key Studio Session. Check them out tonight with Kate Faust and Minka at MilkBoy. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and the $8 tickets can be purchased here.

Zilla Rocca’s hip-hop sound is unlike anything else. It’s got this dark, edgy feel to it, steeped in unique samples from old movies so it’s only appropriate that he falls under the affectionately self-named style “noir-hop.” Rocca’s lyrics, which address personal as well as social issues, don’t stray far from darkness, either. Tonight, he’ll play The Fire with fellow socially-conscious rapper Curly Castro – a member of his Wrecking Crew posse and a frequent collaborator. The show starts at 9 p.m. and the $10 tickets can be purchased here.

Tonight, Jonah Matranga, also known at Onelinedrawing is bringing his folksy emo style to First Unitarian Church. He’s performed in various bands since the late 90s, including Far and Gratitude, and  his latest album, Me And You Are Two, was released just this March. Tonight’s show will start at 7:30 p.m. The $12 tickets can be purchased here.
