Farah Siraj brings her melting-pot of world music to the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Jordanian vocalist Farah Siraj will perform at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on May 16th in conjunction with the Art After Five music series.

Though her music is firmly grounded in the Middle Eastern traditions she grew up with in her hometown of Amman, Siraj has moulded a world music career out of influences and styles from across the globe.  She was hailed by Rolling Stone as a “vivacious Arabian flamenco jazz” artist, and has used her music as a means to promote humanitarian efforts and peace across cultures, performing before the United Nations as well as for world leaders in the Middle East, Europe and the U.S.

Joined by musicians Andres Rotmistrovsky and Marcelo Woloski, Siraj’s Art After Five program will blend innovative original material with traditional Middle Eastern compositions.  More information for the event can be found here.  Below, watch Siraj perform at Coke Studio.
