With 10 days left until an East Coast tour, local reggae/rock band The Snails are without a van or equipment.

Around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning, guitarist Tim Hildebrand was biking home on his way home from work when he noticed the 2003 white Ford E350 that was parked at 31st and West Girard streets was now a vacant spot surrounded by shattered glass.

Hildebrand said he thought nothing of it initially until he went home and walked around he block searching for the van with no luck. He then called the police and filed a report but has not yet received any leads.

The van has two large dents in the back near the right tire and “The Snails,” “Aggrolites,” and “WMNF” stickers plastered on its bumper. The license plate number is JBF0450 and carried the following items:

-Fender twin reverb 65 reissue with a broken handle in a road case
-Fender Blues Jr. III with a broken handle in a road case
-Gold Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 in a hardshell case with “Snails” on it
-CB three-piece Drum kit that was custom stripped down to a deep red sanded down finish with Snails logo on the kick drum in soft shell cases
-Ludwig Epic Series snare
-Set of cymbals (Meinl M Series 22″ ride, Meinl M Series 18″ crash, Paiste Giant Beat 15″ hi-hats) all in cases hardware bag (two cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, snare stand, drum throne, kick pedal) and a Meinl drum rug
-Hartke XL series 4×10 bass cab
-Ampeg b5r bass head

Hildebrand said so much work has gone into planning the tour said there’s no chance the band will cancel due to the incident.

“If we have to take two little sedans [to tour] and borrow [equipment], then that’s what we’re going to do,” Hildebrand said.

Any one with leads are asked to call the Philadelphia Police’s 22nd District at 215-686-3220.
