PHOX, a Wisconsin indie-folk band, make sweet and beautiful music. The band consists of Matt Holmen, J. Sean Krunnfusz, Monica Martin, Dave Roberts, Matteo Roberts, and  Zach Johnston. Yesterday, the band released its latest track, “1936,” which you’ll find on its self-titled debut when it’s released on June 24th. You can also watch them play it live in a session with La Blogothèque’s Take Away Shows.

Dappled in soft light, the band played two songs – “Calico Man” and “1936.” In “Calico Man”, lead singer Monica Martin lingers on the lyrics, while in “1936”, the sextet meld their voices in a beautiful harmony. Slower than their previously released song, “Slow Motion”, these two tracks are still undeniably catchy. Watch the performance below.

Recently, the band did a World Cafe session as well as a performance at SXSW. Their self-titled debut is set to come out June 24th. PHOX will be playing Boot and Saddle on July 21st. Get more information here.
