Today, folk-punk favorites, The Front Bottoms premiered a song “Twelve Feet Deep” from their new EP Rose (out June 17th) over at Spin Magazine. The newest EP, named after Mathew Ulychich’s grandmother, contains a series of unreleased tracks that have been kicking around in the band’s live set for a few years

The chorus “Now we’re dancing / We are so drunk / We are so cool / We are so punk / And yes we can keep living like this” is sang in a very sarcastic manner. However, paired with the melody, it carries an emotionally laden sense of reminiscence. In this manner, the music is not very different from the Front Bottoms previous work.

Earlier this month,  the New Jersey duo released a lyric video for “Jimmy Bogart” off of Rose. Last year, they did a session with NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts for 2013’s Talons of the Hawk.

Front Bottoms will be playing the Electric Factory June 26th with Say Anything. Listen to the EP version of “Twelve Feet Deep” here, watch an acoustic session of it below and get more information on the show at the XPN Concert Calendar.
