Norristown’s weekend Walla Fest is back for its fourth year with a stacked line-up of local music including Pine Barons and Vita and the Wolf. Pine Barons recently went up to Lafayette Hill’s Kettle Pot Tracks studio to record an On the Hill Session, which you can check out here. Meanwhile, Vita and Wolf have released two singles on their Bandcamp – listen to “Mary” below. More information for the festival, which takes place at the Centre Theater in Norristown today and tomorrow, can be found here.
Local musician Madalean Gauze will take the stage at Johnny Brenda’s tonight. Gauze released an EP called American War last April, on which The Key’s Katrina Murray wrote “although the music alternates between loud and quiet, one thing remains constant: Gauze’s stellar voice that’s as pleasant as a songbird juxtaposed with the conflict she sings of.” Take a listen to “Dissonance and Cream” below and pick up tickets to the 21+ show here.
Mo Lowda are helping to throw a “post-fourth freakout” at Milkboy tonight, along with Commonwealth Choir and The Sixties. The alt-rock trio participated in Philly Tapes Philly’s cassette collaboration last month, recording their track “Throw Me a Bone” opposite Roof Doctor’s “Two Brothers.” The free cassettes sold-out quickly but you might be able to catch a live version of the song tonight. More information can be found on the Facebook event page here. Listen to “Curse the Weather” below.Johnny Brenda's, Madalean Gauze, Milkboy, Mo Lowda, Pine Barons, Vita and the Wolf, Walla Fest
