Mississippi harmonica master James Cotton took to the Marina Stage at the XPoNential Music Festival tonight, showing the crowd what blues is all about. He was backed by a lively three-piece rhythm section that riffed on an introductory number before the 79-year-old Cotton took the stage.

Cotton performed seated and worked his way through a set of songs including “Got My Mojo Workin'” and “Rocket 88.” He wasn’t much for conversation, but his powerful harmonica playing had the audience entranced.
