Local indie rockers Southwork will play Johnny Brenda’s tonight, celebrating the release of its latest record Wear Your Heart Out.  The record was recorded in a South Philly row home on a reel-to-reel tape machine owned by frontman Mike Vivas’ cousins.  The recordings are raw and heartfelt, just fuzzy enough to sound like a warp-y dream.  Take a listen to “Tell You a Story” below and pick up tickets for the show with Tutlie and Purples here.

Recent Key Studio Session participants The Sixties headline a show at North Star Bar tonight.  The three-piece out of Lansdale released its debut full-length There It Isn’t earlier this summer, showing a knack for taking the best of rock and punk and putting it together in an honest and catchy way.  Fans of Circa Survive, Kings of Leon and Foo Fighters will all find something to love on the record.  Stream and download the Key Studio Session version of “Jean Jacket” below and get tickets for the show here.

MilkBoy continues its three year anniversary celebration with Mo Lowda & The Humble tonight, alongside XPoNential Festival alums The Lawsuits and Our Griffins.  The Humble were last on our radar in May when they collaborated with fellow locals Roof Doctor on the third installment of Philly Tapes Philly.  You can learn more about that project here, and listen to “The Water’s Gonna Save Us” off of Curse the Weather below.  Information for the free show can be found here.
